“Why does wonder rhyme with thunder?”
This I ponder, as I launder.
Perhaps the “uh” sound is a blunder.
Phoneme twisted, by some donder.
Of the “ah” sound I’m much fonder,
Like in, “Wander over yonder.”
Is a lightning flash a wonder?
Is that why it rhymes with thunder?
Rip the night sky, tear asunder …
Still, it should not gnarr like “under.”
Why does wonder grunt like plunder?
Should be better – kind of … blonder.
