If I Lose My Grip

DSC_9104-001

If I lose my grip, will you hold onto me,
baby?
Suppose I slide beneath the waves
of your placid seas, will you slide
in after me?
Can we drown together, in the wet,
the slippery slope of you,
baby?

If I slide off my tether, and your ring
falls beneath my stride,
can you feel me fingering
your love where once it lived?
Will you tattoo yourself around my
naked thumb,
baby,
so that I never forget?

Baby?

If I lose my grip, will you hold me
inside of you, so’s I don’t get lost,
baby?
It’s warm so near to your
heart,
and I’m cold here on the outside,
baby.
