I Danced in Summer Nights

I danced in summer nights
with you, love, dreamt eternity
early morning sights
tousled hair, we, under there
sweaty love delights

I kissed in summer’s heat
made love to thoughts engorged with you
in the sun we’ll meet
to dance—with joy—your body’s furtive,
pulsating calypso beat

We dared to chase the fears
and then forbade them to return
we’ll pocket heated years,
just a few, for us to keep
as lovers’ souvenirs
